Yiddishe Cup was founded in 1988 by clarinetist Bert Stratton of Cleveland Heights. The group has performed at the Chautauqua (NY) Institution amphitheater, The Brooklyn (NY) Center for the Performing Arts, and the Cain Park amphitheater, among other esteemed venues. The band has played throughout the United States and Canada. Yiddishe Cup plays a mix of Jewish music and soul music.
The Yiddishe Cup musicians are Tamar Gray, vocals; Steven Greenman, violin; Alan Douglass, keyboards; Vernondo Parker, drums; Alice Stratton, dance leader; and Bert Stratton, clarinet and saxophone.
