Christopher Burge studied saxophone and music theory with Gene Walker and Hank Marr at The Ohio State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance in 1997. While in school, Christopher toured Thailand with Honk, Wail, and Moan, toured Europe with the OSU Jazz Ensemble, and performed with Barry White, Louie Bellson, Stanley Turrentine and The National Black Music Caucus Big Band, and the Stars of the Lawrence Welk Show. Since moving to Cleveland in October 1997, Christopher has played with Johnny Mathis, Gino Vannelli, Lynyrd Skynyrd, David Sanborn, Cyndi Lauper, Mavis Staples, Ronnie Spector, Clark Terry, David “Fathead” Newman, “Little” Jimmy Scott, Bobby Caldwell, Benny Golson, Nancy Wilson, Maria Schneider, Joe Lovano, Bria Skonberg, Ken Peplowski, Richard Bona, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame House Band, Vanessa Rubin, and Dominic Farinacci. Christopher is
active in the recording studio, having recorded for American Greetings e-cards, Al Green, and having written and recorded the them song of the WVIZ-PBS TV show “Applause”.

Currently, Christopher freelances, and performs with his own group, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, and the Jackie Warren/ Sammy Deleon Latin Jazz Quartet.
