Yiddishe Pirat (“Jewish Pirate”) is Jack Stratton, drums; Josh “Socalled” Dolgin, piano, accordion, and vocals; and Michael Winograd, clarinet.
Stratton is an alumnus of the Cain Park Tennis Camp and now lives in Los Angeles. He is the leader of the funk-pop group Vulfpeck, which sold out Madison Square Garden in 2019.
Winograd, from Brooklyn, played with Vulfpeck at the Madison Square Garden concert. He is one of the world’s foremost klezmer clarinetists. His highly acclaimed album “Kosher Style” came out in 2019.
Dolgin, from Montreal, is a renowned DJ, Yiddish singer, and keyboard player. He is a household name in France. (Some households.) He is a member of David Krakauer’s Klezmer Madness and the klezmer-funk band Abraham Inc.
Dolgin headlined the “Workmen’s Circle Yiddish Concert in the Park” in 2014 with Winograd on clarinet and Stratton on drums. Stratton has also performed on drums and percussion with Yiddishe Cup Klezmer Band during several of their Cain Park appearances over the last 20 years.
The Yiddishe Pirat musicians first played together at KlezKanada -- a Canadian klezmer conference -- in 2007.
